BioSecurity Confidential – Johnny Depp and Amber Heard in Town

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have jetted into the Gold Coast this morning ahead of a court hearing  in relation to the importation of their dogs Boo and Pistol. It is believed that the couple touched down on Australian soil at Coolangatta Airport sometime this morning following a flight from the United States aboard their private Gulf Stream V.

The incident happened when allegedly Heard snuck her dogs into Australia while visiting Depp when he was filming the Pirates of the Caribbean movie on the Gold Coast last May. The actress will face three charges of breaching the Australian Quarantine Act  in our own Southport Magistrates Court. The trial is set for 4 days.

Then Agriculture Minister and now Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce was not amused by the alleged smuggling of the dogs into Australia and commented “Its time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States”. The dogs were apparently given a “death countdown” with a 50 hour notice to go back to the United States, or else.

Barnaby Joyce at the time did blushingly concede in a press conference that he was not the sexiest man alive, all credit for that going to Jack Sparrow: “Mr Depp, God bless him, ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ and all that, Jack Sparrow, he’s got to abide by the laws of the nation, otherwise the dogs have got to go.”

There are no confirmed sighting of the A-listers on the Gold Coast yet and it is not known where they are staying. Law firm Ashurst is handling the case.

The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions plans to call 12 witnesses to give evidence. It is unlikely that Boo and Pistol will appear!

This is probably a bad time to fess up to owning more than 50 handbags, huh?But I agree, it doesn't matter how much they cost, it is their intrinsic beauty which matters. Most of my bags are vintage – collected from travels all over the world, so each comes with a story. I'm impressed that you give one away each year! Oh, I couldn't!
